The Mission

Simple. Be the fucking best and help to show as many people as possible that emotion = energy. Especially heightened emotion, when you’re sad/angry and likewise incredible happy. That can be channeled to a positive outcome.

We’re raising money for three great cancer charities in the UK, US and Australia. It a disease that affects most of us in one way or another and I’m committed to put myself through any pain to get to the otherside and raise as much money and awareness for them as I can. I’m also acutely aware that no matter what happens on this run, I’m not even close to going through what someone fighting for their life against cancer is. You could call it my superpower, I am ignorant to my own suffering.

We’ve been planning this thing for the best part of a year and I’d like to give acknowledgment to Chris Turnbull who currently holds the record. The beautiful thing about ultra in general is we help our fellow competitors. Chris has gone over and above to share his knowledge and experience, cheers mate. Also to my friend Nedd Brockmann, another weapon who’s ran across this beautiful country. Thank you for the support, sharing your experience also and just generally inspiring me to be a better person.

Thanks for finding the page and following the journey. My final note is to share my absolute gratitude for my team, none of this is possible without them and to say Mum, I know you’re up there watching down on me and guiding my every step. I love you and miss you every day.

Every step, every mile, is for those in the fight of their lives.
Donate now to support cancer charities in the UK, US, and Australia — and honour the ones we’ve lost, the ones still fighting, and the ones who’ll never fight alone.

The Route

Cottesloe to Bondi. Coast to coast. Chasing the record.

I’m running across Australia with one goal: to show what’s possible when you push past comfort, past limits, and do something that scares the shit out of you — because on the other side of fear is the version of you that actually shows up when it matters. This is about proving that we’re capable of more than we think, especially when everything hurts and quitting would be easier.

Our Crew

William Goodge
William Goodge
Ultra Runner from Ampthill, England

Started running following the death of my mum to cancer. There was never any plan to be here now, it was just a way to help me deal with my sadness at the time. I respected her too much to simply throw my life away and could have easily chosen another route into drugs and alcohol.

That started a whirlwind adventure into running as far as I could. 8 months after my first marathon I ran the length of the UK in 2019, I then did 48 Marathons in 30 days and Ran Across America.

The theme of doing ‘something stupid’ every other year continues to now. Shooting for the record across Australia. I’d like thank and give my full respect to everyone who has ran this path before me.

I’ve had my ups and downs as have a lot of people. I have two fantastic boys (now young men), Alex and Will who I’m very proud of.

I lost my wife Mandy 7 years ago to cancer and we all miss her.

I’m now retired having previously had a carpentry business. I love cycling, playing golf, going to the pub and my holidays abroad.

I’m most looking forward to the experience I suppose and hoping it runs very, very smoothly!
